JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the efficient operation of Cashiering, Accounts Payable, Income Audit, assist with monthly closing of books and balance sheet reconciliations.
Key Accountability & Responsibilities:
•Responsible for overseeing the accounts payable function, ensuring that payment is only made for goods and services received.
•Ensure supplier invoices are sent to Head Office Service Centre in a timely manner
•Resolve queries from suppliers.
•Oversee functioning of the General Cashier
•Carry out surprise float counts
•Ensure Petty Cash payment are made at specific times
•Ensure cash and cheques are banked in tact on a daily basis.
•Review Income audit and ensure data is entered on a timely basis in Accounting System.
•Review and resolve discrepancies between room count per Housekeeping Report and Front Office Room charges.
•Ensure standard audit checks are preformed,
•Ensure Income Audit balances with General Cashier and Accounts Receivable on a daily basis.
•Ensure that company Policy and Procedures are followed for all accounting and accounting related functions within the hotel
•Help Assistant Financial Controller with preparation of month end journals.
•Assist with posting month end journals.
•Assist with preparation of Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
•Liaise with Other Departments when they require help or have queries.
•Ensure strong and direct communication with Assistant Director of Finance.
KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS (ASSESSMENT CRITERIA):
University or equivalent degree in accounting.
Knowledge of Opera, Sun System, Micros would be helpful.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Good working knowledge of General Cashiering, Income Audit, Accounts Payable, Uniform System of Accounts For Hotels.
